Sports & Athletic Organization Representation
The firm advises and helps individuals and organizations structure and register business entities involved in the sports business, as well as providing all ongoing general corporate/business and legal advice and services. Services include advice on governance issues, regulatory compliance and investigations (including Title IX and sexual harassment), business structure, contract preparation and negotiation, intellectual property monitoring and dispute resolution (mediation, arbitration and litigation avoidance strategies). Student-Athlete Exploitation of Name, Image & Likeness Rights
The firm represents college and high-school student-athletes – and their legal guardians – negotiates for the best business terms for use of individual name, nicknames, images and likenesses (NIL Rights), with the goal of protecting athletes and their families from exploitation. Athletes and their families and guardians receive free legal consultation with respect to their NIL Rights.
Dispute Resolution
The firm provides streamlined dispute resolution mechanisms, with the goal of assisting clients in avoiding costly and time-consuming litigation, when appropriate. In the first instance, Pilgrim & Associates Arbitration, Law & Mediation, LLC ensures that all contractual agreements and business arrangements provide an efficient and appropriate mechanism for resolving the disagreements that are inevitable in any business context. The firm also evaluates existing internal business regulatory schemes and will assist with improving such systems by means of appropriate industry-specific standards and best practices. The firm provides mediation services or arranges such services for clients as needed. Finally, the firm represents clients in mediation and arbitration proceedings, as well as assisting with litigation matters that require court intervention.
