Many golfers are ineligible to play golf in the PGA tournament as they have already registered and played in the LIV tournament. The PGA Tour team states that any golfer who has joined the LIV Golf tour has been ruled ineligible to play for PGA since early June. The lawsuit between PGA and LIV leaves golfers with a missed opportunity to earn more income, as well as a dent in their reputation. Sponsors, agents, and vendors were hired by PGA in order to keep players from participating in the LIV tour.

LIV Golf is a professional golf tour that is by a sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia. This fund is chaired by  Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, who is alleged to be responsible for the operation that led to the 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The background of the tour leads to questionable intentions, especially with the recent round being held on Trump’s golf course in New Jersey.
